Thomas worked for the Western Australia police force for 17 years before he decided to pursue a career in defence. Thomas was a police prosecutor in Western Australia for 10 years.

He commands a strong intrinsic knowledge of the police prosecuting procedure and understands how to mount a successful criminal prosecution.
